AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented, motivated and experienced Chief of Party for immediate employment in the Kathmandu, Nepal office.
The objective of this five-year DRM Project is to strengthen disaster risk management capacity and institutions in Nepal in a way that is inclusive, makes use of known best practices and technological interventions, and is adaptive to changing circumstances. The Project will consist of three key components: 1) Improving National Level Systems and Institutions; 2) Building Capacity at the Municipal Level and 3) Supporting National and Municipal level institutions to strengthen disaster response.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- The Chief of Party (COP) is responsible for overseeing natural disaster and emergency response disaster management activities
- Maintains strong communications with the project team, US Government staff, municipal level agencies and organizations, and other implementing partners
- At the national level, the COP will help develop regulations that strengthen DRM institutions, including the NDMA, and demonstrate the benefits of a holistic, multi-hazard approach to disaster risk management policies and guidelines with the aim to better link central authorities and decisions to the communities that experience disasters
*Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, disaster management, natural resources, or relevant field of study
- 10+ years of experience coordinating emergency response teams for a wide range of natural and non-natural disaster management activities to include 5 years of leadership experience managing multi-faceted teams of 10 or more, and overseeing budgets in excess of US$15M
- Proven ability to leverage and manage partnership and cooperate with host country governments and international partners in implementing multi-intervention health information system projects
- Thought leadership in the area of disaster management and policy development
- Experience liaising with senior government officials
- Strong written and oral English communication skills

- Fluent in Nepali
